Ukraine’s Serhiy Demedyuk took part in the fifth meeting of the Ukraine-U.S. Cyber Dialogue
The delegations of Ukraine and the United States recently met in Tallinn (Estonia), to convene the 5th U.S.-Ukraine Cyber Dialogue, an annual discussion on cyber policy.
During the dialogue, the United States delegation reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to supporting Ukraine’s cyber defense in the face of russia’s unjustified and unprovoked military aggression against Ukraine. As part of this support, the United States is working with Congress to provide an additional $37 million in cyber assistance to Ukraine, bringing the total to $82 million since February 2022 and more than $120 million since 2016. This support has helped to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to detect, deter, and respond to cyber incidents and threats, and has provided support to protect critical networks and digital infrastructure.
The parties exchanged views on the role of cybersecurity in the long-term development of Ukraine’s digital resilience, including support for critical infrastructure institutions and facilities. The participants exchanged views on future cooperation between Ukraine and the United States on cyber issues, including the exchange of Ukraine’s experience in this area.
The Ukrainian delegation, headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Anton Demokhin, included Deputy Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Serhiy Demedyuk, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Heorhiy Dubynskyi, Deputy Minister of Defense for Digital Development Vitaliy Deineha, Chief of the Main Directorate of Electronic and Cyber Warfare of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ivan Pavlenko, Deputy Heads of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine Viktor Zhora and Oleksandr Potiy, Director of the Department of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine Oleh Kiriy, Deputy Head of the Cyber Security Department of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Kalabashkin, Deputy Head of the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine Oleh Zavorotnyi, Head of the Digital Development and Cybersecurity Department of the Ministry of Energy Roman Kravidz, Head of the NCSCC Support Service of the NSDC Staff Serhiy Prokopenko, and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Estonia Mariana Betsa.
Ambassador-at-Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy Nathaniel C. Fick of the Department of State led the U.S. delegation, which included Acting National Cyber Director Kemba Walden of the White House, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Mike Eoyang, U.S. Cyber Command Deputy Commander Lieutenant General Timothy Haugh, Brigadier General Chad Raduege of U.S. European Command, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security Thomas McDermott, Brandon Wales, Executive Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, as well as representatives of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and USAID.
Both delegations expressed their appreciation to the Government of Estonia for making it possible to meet in Tallinn.
